Compensatory measures and ecological construction monitoring

Ecological compensation measures are measures that are carried out to compensate for the negative effects of an intervention in nature and the landscape - for example through construction projects, infrastructure or land use. The aim is to compensate for the loss of ecosystems, biodiversity or landscape quality caused by the intervention. All our construction and modernisation projects are carried out strictly in accordance with legal requirements and under ecological supervision.

Maintenance of the Isar floodplains

As a compensatory measure, the Brauneck mountain railway, for example, regularly clears the gravel banks of the Isar, which had become heavily overgrown since the construction of the Sylvenstein reservoir, of trees and shrubs. Biotope areas for protected species such as the adder, grass snake and silver wormwood are thus restored over an area of 12 hectares.
